A while back someone somewhere on LJ pointed out this image of Lucifer as containing a visual similarity to Sam, most particularly the hair.

For some reason back then, I fixated on the hair, and didn't even notice the wings. So now I'm wondering, when/if Sam rises as Lucifer, will he have wings. I really want him to have wings.

Though a friend of mine pointed out that the only thing that would do is encourage Wingcest. LOL.

I say, where's the harm in that.

So, I was reading this article about Lilith in BAR yesterday. And there were a few interesting points, relative to SPN.

Speaking of wings, the old Babylonian version of Lilith apparently had wings as well:

The Talmud's Lilith recalls older Babylonian images, for she has "long
hair" (Erubin 100b) and wings (Niddah24b).

Both she and Azazel belong to the deserts/the empty places/the wilderness.

And then there's this:

Unwholesome sexual practices are linked to Lilith as she powerfully embodies the demon-lover myth.

So that makes me wonder about the fact that Kripke and Co. have decided to characterize Sam as only having angry sex in terms of what they have shown us for the last few years (one assumes things were very different with Jessica). As opposed to Dean, who is only shown having sex of the non-angry variety. Indubitably, Sam's sexual practices have become 'unwholesome'. Are they trying to use this as a way to embody the demon-lover myth, male version rather than female? Makes me think so.

That speculation, in turn, makes me wonder a bit whether they'll revisit the theme of Sam and Lilith sex - given Sam's almost overblown, incredulous reaction against it last time. And Dean's sarcastic but accurate response, 'like that could never happen.'

Then there is this further snippet of info:

The ZoharÂ’'s final innovation concerning the Lilith myth is to partner her with the male personification of evil, named either Samael or Asmodeus. He is associated with Satan, the serpent and the leader of fallen angels. Lilith and Samael form an unholy alliance (Zohar 23b, 55a) and embody the dark, negative sphere of the depraved. In one of the many stories of Samael and Lilith, God is concerned that the couple will produce a huge demonic brood and overwhelm the earth with evil.

Sam/Samael/association with Satan and therefore Lucifer. Anyway, whether the show goes back to the subject of Lilith/Sam sex or not as a way to break the final seal so that Lucifer can rise (assuming that's what is going to happen), I found that bit interesting.
